Brick expertise: Henk Myburgh from Mpumalanga (right) has been appointed Operations Manager at Makana Brick in Grahamstown, and is seen here being welcomed to the clay brick manufacturing company by CEO Colin Meyer (left). Myburgh has extensive experience in the manufacturing of clay bricks and management of brick plants, gained at Roma Brick and Midway Brick in Mpumalanga where he was plant manager for nine years.

Among the projects he has managed have been converting a Hoffmann tunnel dryer into a tunnel kiln and implementing new quality control and firing systems. Myburgh was also involved with staff training, quality control, engineering, maintenance, and yard and stock control.

He is married to Edri and the couple has three children. The family hails from Balmoral in Mpumalanga where Myburgh was chairman of the Balmoral Primary School governing body and an elder of Nooitgedaght NG Kerk.

An avid rugby player in his younger days, he represented Kempton Park High School's 1st team for three years, was a member of the Gauteng Falcons Rugby Academy, and captained the Falcons under-19 rugby team. These days he plays golf, is a mountain biker, and enjoys hunting and camping.
